| ->> we were using soundslides to make audio slideshows, but the newspaper wanted to get a count of every photo viewed, so we switched to just making web galleries, which will keep a count of every view. does anyone know of simple way making audio slideshows in which every picture viewed is counted? |

| ->> I don't think it's possible in Soundslides or a Quicktime movie to count the views of each image within the slideshow, but for some reason I think, at the very least, it's possible to count how many times a Quicktime movie was played from start to finish. Not sure that's possible with Soundslides. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. |

->> We went through this a few years ago at the paper I worked for at the time.
Management was in love with posting poor quality, half-baked videos. They really couldn't get enough of them. They were also sniffing around for other ways to pump up page views so our soundslides-based audio slideshows really flustered them. No bloated page view stats coming off these babies. (sorry Joe W.) At the time, static galleries were the only way to quantify individual photos in terms of page views. I don't think that has changed.
The photo department desperately wanted to continue producing higher quality, story-driven audio slideshows so we proposed putting these audio slideshows into video format and counting them through the video category. The video category is more lucrative anyway, right? The future of the internet, right? RIGHT?!? I guess not.
Predictably, management declined. Something about resources, "mixing" categories, diverted stats, blah, blah. They eventually killed audio slideshows altogether and now just assemble static galleries for everything. It was unfortunate because they had some talented people who were interested in telling good stories with photos and audio. |

| ->> Yes. Soundslides has an interface which allows you to do customizations to it. Using this you can read how many slides have played and call a counter from it. Definitely a pro web developer thing... I'd offer to help but don't have the time right now. Look for someone who knows Actionscript really well. |
