->> Mark,
I was looking into providing photos for them, but I have not yet made a decision. I was only able to provide Robert with some basic and anecdotal info about them from a shooter I know who does some freelance work for them.

->> I have several friends, all recent graduates, who have started working for Patch.
For what it's worth though, they're all writers. I don't think the company is hiring staff photographers but rather relying on freelancers who have their own camera gear. Seems they don't put much value on photojournalism. |

->> I've been doing some work for Patch and what Anthony said is true. Basically everyone working for Patch takes pictures, writes, and some even do video.
I worked with the sports editor before so he's having me just shoot photos, and I want to say there might be another person or two that only shoots for them.
As far as rights to photos go, I can ever remember the time frame, but I believe its no longer then 90-days they hold the rights to your photos then you can do whatever you want with them. |

->> A number of their ads have said "Some editors pay additional for video." I have inquired about their rates a number of times and have never gotten a response from anybody.

->> I've seen a copy of the Patch contract. They claim all ownership of the freelancer's work. You can't even say that you've done work for them without "express written permission."
I still don't know what their rates are.

| ->> Hey Mark, I asked a friend of mine what Patch pays and he said it ranges from $45 for a column to $75 for a story with photo. If you want contact information for a few of them let me know. |
