| ->> I had a brand new ProSpec UDMA 4 gig CF card I shot on a Mark III that failed. Various files couldn't be viewed. I tried to recover them using ProRescue and I keep getting this error Reason: ***NSCopyMemoryPage(0x16f00000, 0x0, 1085915136) failed Anyone else ever seen this? Files are fairly important and would be nice to be able to save them. |

->> Hi Nick, I have no idea what may have caused the failure. But in the past I have used "Recover Plus Pro" by Arcksoft and recovered files from CF cards that had been formatted after the shoot. It's been my understanding that unless you overwrite them, they can be recovered. I don't know, but maybe the ProRescue will only work for certain brand cards? The Recover Plus Pro works for generic cards and removeable media etc. But, it does cost $35.00 to download. Here is a link and I hope you recover them.

->> Rescue software will work on images deleted or cards formatted and will recover the data that has not been overwritten.
However, if the card is fried, such as the controller is kaput, then your data is gone, pure and simple.
It's a rarity, but it can happen.
But you can try a couple different recovery programs to see if one has more success than the other. |

->> I've had very good luck with Data Rescue 2 (and now Data Rescue 3) over the years.

| ->> There are several recovery programs out there. I have CardRecovery (http://www.cardrecovery.com/) and it worked well the one time I used it (actually I'm amazed at how much it 'found'). It is funny how a card just 'goes'. I have a 8GB SanDisk card that worked fine one day and the next day I just get a card error message. |

->> George is right - all of the recovery software is pretty much the same (I've used half a dozen of them, including Calumet's). If the card's faulty, nothing will recover your files.
First mistake - using a ProSpec card. Slow, overpriced dog. They don't make their own cards, so you're paying profit to two different companies. Who knows who makes them. I buy lots of stuff from Calumet - but would never put one of their cards in my camera for anything but one of my tests:
