Nikon d300s - card reader error?

->> So I have a feeling this may be the "green blinking light of death" that I have heard nikon users discuss... But anyway, this is a plea for help until I can talk to Nikon on Monday...
I am having a problem with my camera that I believe is a card reader issue... This is what happens: take picture, shutter locks, LCD display is not accessible, camera freezes until card is removed. Any quick fixes/ideas?

| ->> Haven't heard of BGLOD in the D300s. I assume you have tried multiple cards, with the same result? |

->> Chuck -
Thanks for the reply.... This is happening with Lexar cards only... which is strange... my Sandisk cards seem to be shooting normally.... |

| ->> Sounds to me more like a blown shutter. But the only way to take another frame was to shut camera off and turn back on. Not so sure about the CF card, as I didn't think of that. Weird that it only happens on the Lexar cards. Only issue with memory cards is the camera displaying CHA meaning the card was corrupt/malfunctioning. |

After reformatting all cards on the computer and then again in camera, there is no longer an issue.
For anyone gets this problem and doesn't really want to deal with getting to the bottom of it and sending their camera in... I suggest just reformatting on the computer and then in the camera... The formatting in the computer was key because just formatting through the camera resulted in the same problem. So far, so good.... I've been shooting for about two weeks with no new problem.
Note that this may only be a temporary fix it.... I do worry about a more severe shutter problem to deal with in the near future. |
