| ->> Seems like it might be easy enough to make one of these out of an old/broken Nikon camera and lens, just scavenge the mounts from each and attach with something flexy and light-tight from home depot. I might have to give that a try.... |

->> Folks, what you're missing here as to why this works for m4/3 and NEX cameras with Nikon lenses is the larger image circle of the Nikon glass, which means you can still tilt and be within the image circle of the 35mm format glass on these 2x and 1.6x factor cameras.
For something like this to work tilty-like on a fullframe 35mm body like the D3, you'd want the ballsocket mount to accept medium-format lenses to keep inside the image circle edge-to-edge.
Make sense? |

->> Jack makes a good point.
How about a fisheye tilt then? |

->> I see what you mean Jack.
Doesn't the image circle increase in size though as the lens is moved further from the sensor? I mean I realize that the focusing distance meter on the lens would be way off but whatever. Also, wouldn't it work with regular full frame lens and a smaller factor body (D300 D40x etc etc)?
Am I thinking about that right? Jack? Or anybody else? |

| ->> The lens moving further from the film plane also makes it focus closer, so even though you have a larger circle you can't use it. |
