->> If you're bored and want to waste a few minutes of your day, take a look.

At first glance when I saw the byline to this, link below, front webpage photo (The Darkness of Depression story,) I couldn't figure out why in the heck it was labeled as such, "Photo Illustration." Took me a minute or so, OK more like two. Then it hit me. Duhhh
How long did it take you?

because eventually the webpage will change, do share.)

Jersey # removed?
I am pretty positive they did this so to
not imply the player in the image
was suffering from depression. Obviously.

->> I published the original post kinda late tonight. So by morning the webpage would have changed a few times, possibly. If so, those who read this in future, would not have a clue in what I was referring to in the post in question. Eh. C'est la vie.

->> As of right now, the story/front page photo is the third in the top rotating headlines. It could be the player's number or maybe how it was shaded in general. If we can't be 100% certain by looking, it isn't a good idea for them to run that illustration. I was taught that an illustration had to be obvious that it was so even without the "illustration" tag in the cutline. I suppose a mag like SI has a little more wiggle room than a newspaper.

->> Having taken a similar photo (and yes, it was my icon before posting this, heh) I think by law I have to guess.

One: I think they darkened the jersey and removed the player number; he's fairly far out of that tunnel, and the grass behind him is reasonably well exposed.

Two: I suspect that player shadow is either added in or moved over to be more center. Based on the the tunnel shadow (if it's real) It looks like it could be about the right length, but if you follow the body line back, especially in comparison with the shadow from the right edge of the tunnel, it would seem to be about a foot or so (of real world measurement) too far to the right. The shadow also looks a bit too well defined (but not that dark) compared to the tunnel shadow, which is darker, but with a fuzzier edge.

Three: If the shadows are real (moved or not) then the crowd on the far side of the stadium should have some very strong shadows on them themselves, if not be in full shadow. I suspect the crowd is blown out a bit.
