| ->> I went to an photography festival a few years back and met a photographer who's work I was really inspired by. I cannot for the life of me remember his name and I was wondering if someone could help me. I believe the photographer in question died last year, one of his most popular images is one of the world trade center attack framed by a statue of angels blowing trumpets. I also remember the photographer at the time was working on a project involving the last few rolls that existed of his favorite film type (pretty sure it was kodachrome). I know this is very vague but if anyone could identify the photographer I would be eternally grateful. |

->> Kodak handed Steve McCurry the last roll of Kodachrome produced by the company. He wrapped up his final roll project and had it processed in July.
He is best recognized for the National Geographic cover image of a young Afghan girl, but has produced spectacular work from Afghanistan, India and many other locales. |

| ->> It wasn't McCurry. He wasn't in the photojournalism world. More of a fine art photographer with a very distinct style. I know im being really vague. |

I was thinking maybe Jeff Mermelstein, but as far as I know he is still alive, and I couldn't find the image you're describing. |

| ->> robert, I did a pretty exhaustive search last night looking for this image you described. there is nothing at all in any archive I checked.....that seems pretty odd considering the event and you saying it was popular. you don't have any other information? |

->> Hey everyone,
Thanks for the help. It is not anyone that has been mentioned so far. I have contacted the event organizers that I saw his work at in hopes of tracking it down that way.I feel stupid for not being able to provide any better information but I do know a couple of other pictures of his I will describe below.
Thanks again for your help
* The cover for one of his books is a very trippy colorful silhouette of a dog standing on the top of a set of stairs
*He had a really dynamic photo taken by shooting the reflection in the rearview mirror of his car that looked to be out west in the plains area. Cows/bulls/buffalo? were reflected in the image
*He had a really funny photograph taken in an art museum that showed the viewfinder of someones video camera on the crotch of a statue
*The 9/11 picture has the twin towers burning in the background with an angel statue in the foreground.
Unfortunately thats about all I got. I will keep you posted as i try and find him. |

| ->> well, there was part of the problem with finding the photo. that wasn't an angel trumpeting....it's a soldier being stabbed in the back with a bayonet attached to a rifle....dude, WTF? how do you confuse "angels with trumpets" and a guy being stabbed with a friggin bayonet..... |

| ->> Give me a break chuck. I saw the image one time 2-3 years ago. My perception of the shot was definitely off...for some reason my mind kept saying "angel trumpeting" obviously the actual image is considerably more powerful. Sorry for the confusion but thanks for everyone's help. |
