->> I just wanted to say thank you publicly to SS member Dave Prelosky. I shot my nieces wedding this past weekend in Pittsburgh and Dave graciously loaned me all his lighting gear so I didn't have to ship my gear up from Florida. And to top it off, he delivered it to me and picked it back up before I left to head back to Florida.
Dave only knew me through SS and the first time we met was when he delivered the gear to me in Pittsburgh. It takes a trusting man to leave his gear with someone you only know through a website and I cant thank him enough for making it that much easier for me. That's what I love about this site....the professional courtesy shown by Dave is something we should all strive to match as best as we can.
Good Karma....pay it forward...what ever works for you. Its nice knowing we can count on other photogs to help you out when the opportunity presents itself.
THANKS DAVE! |

->> That was super nice of Dave, indeed. He should be on the ballot for Member of the Year on SportsShooter.com!
Personally, I would have - and hope you did - offer to pay Dave a rental fee, whether it be cash, Guinness (which far more valuable in my mind), lunch/dinner or a gift of some sort, whether they asked for it or not. A public thanks is great, but not enough - and yeah, I know you didn't ask me :-) If it saved me from having to pack-ship-unpack-pack-ship-unpack for a gig that I was being paid for (or not for that matter), it would be the least I could do to show my appreciation for the time and hassle it saved me, something toward the wear and tear on his/her gear and to show a little professional courtesy in return.
It was a wonderful thing Dave did for you and he certainly has my vote for MYSS. |

->> Clark,
Your absolutely right....and I did pay Dave a rental fee for use of his gear and wear and tear. For me that goes without saying. I would never ask to borrow gear without some sort of reimbursement. This was just a thank you to Dave on the forum. I didn't feel the need to get into the specifics of the arrangement as that was between Dave and I. |
