Knoxville AP Photographer Suffers Heart Attack - "GET PURPLE" THIS WEEKEND

->> Wade Payne has been shooting for the AP in Knoxville and Nashville since the early 90's. He has been a fixture at virtually every football and basketball game at the University of Tennessee since that time. He covers the CMA's in Nashville, the Titans, and a ton of other stuff around these parts.
Wade is in ICU and we're waiting to see how he does over the next few days... But while we wait, I've got a little assignment for all of you on SS.
Wade LOVES the color purple. So, if you have a little extra time this weekend at your games, cover your lens shade with purple painter's tape (masking tape) as a show of support for his blog: http://imagesbydesignphotography.blogspot.com/
I will be covering my Tennessee Orange this week with purple too.
The second part of this assignment is to have someone shoot a photo of you with your purple lens in your stadium and send me a jpeg so I can create a photo book for Wade.
Last, pray, pray, pray for his recovery.
This is a great forum for learning and improving your skills and knowledge but sometimes it can become filled with complaints, silly arguments and frivolous conversation-- but sometimes it can be a great thing to support each other on the side-lines. This is one of those times.
The tape is cheap so if a couple people going to each game buy one roll, it will cover a lot of lenses, so hit up Wally-world, Home Depot & Lowe's and find that purple stuff.
I'll be bringing a few rolls to the Tennessee Florida game this weekend. They will be in the press room, so come on in and tape up just like the players do... Last, hug your kids, kiss your honey, and remember, life is short and sweet. Don't waste a minute of it on stupid stuff.
"Purple out" this weekend at your game, and send the photos to me at pat@pmrphoto.com |

->> I saw Wade at the Raiders / Titans game in Nashville this past weekend (with his purple tape on his 400/2.8).
I'll be shooting Arkansas at Georgia on Saturday and then back to Nashville on Sunday for the Steelers vs Titans.
Guess I'll have to 'Purple Up'!!!!! |

->> thanks Tim, it would be great to get any visiting Gators to purple up so spread the word to anyone you can... btw, that purple painter's tape is hard to come by! I went to five places today looking for it and only Hobby Lobby carried it, and they only have 1" wide tape. I bought all they had though, so I'm hoping it will be enough!!!!
Everything is still pretty much the same as yesterday with Wade, but we're hoping to know more maybe in the next couple of days...
Keep those prayers coming...

->> Wade literally woke up this morning. He answered questions from the nurse by nodding and squeezing her hand and is now tracking people with his eyes then they move around the room in ICU. He cannot speak as the machine is still breathing for him but that is due to be removed sometime soon. While these are big-time signs of encouragment, Wade will have a long road to recovery if he can breathe on his own once the vent is removed.
Please keep the full-court press and continue to pray for his full recovery. We are all cautiously optimistic... pm-r |

->> Wade is talking now, which by default means the ventilator has been removed. This text came in from Lisa last night: "Amazing night with Wade!"
And this one, which is the best of all from today at 10am, "Talking, eating, smiling. May be moved out of Intensive care today..."
Do you believe in miracles????
Next Wade will be looking at having open heart surgery... and then a long recovery from that.
Thanks to all who have been praying for him. Today is the day for "Purple Out" to take place at Neyland Stadium as well as many other places. Remember to shoot photos of people wearing Purple or sporting it on their lenses and cameras and send the photos to me at: pat@pmrphoto.com
It's a beautiful day here in Knoxville on many levels... GO VOLS!!!!!! |

->> I got to stop in and see Wade yesterday and he's doing great. He showed me his purple walker complete with strobe lights, license plate, and purple tape. the even better news is that the walker is done. He's walking without need of it, is in fine spirits and is very contemplative... "I'm trying to get my mind around the fact that I was dead," he said a few times... He meant every word.
Thanks to all who prayed or sent good vibes Wade's way. It all worked!!!
