->> Hi all,
How i work now
On-road i have a macbook pro 17" intel core 2 duo.
What i now do is i import my card with photo mechanic, its lightweight i select my images import them in Aperture 3 do some toning there, often open it in photoshop to do some sharpening, sometimes some extra brightness contrast edits and then back to photo mechanic for exif. then upload it to FTP.
The problem is, during halftime of a soccer match i need to upload around 5 images. before i selected like 10 images importet them in aperture i already list like 6 to 8 mintues. since i need to walk over to the press room and back, i only have around 10min. to do 5 good images.
Just using photoshop and photo mechanic doesn't seem to suite for me, i love the way aperture works with colors, blacks, vibracy and such. but damn its freaking slow!
anyone a idea? |

->> Second that. You have enough time during the game to check all your pictures, and "lock" the keepers. Import the locked files only in PM saves a LOT of time.
You could also think about doing all the work on the field, get yourself a 3G usb stick and you don't need the press room anymore ;)
PS: I'm sure we're gonna talk about this at the meeting next week, I have a few questions regarding this "issue" too :P |

->> You can set Aperture to import only tagged images as well, so that's one way to handle this.
Also, importing into Aperture 3 import photos much faster than Photo Mechanic or Lightroom in that you can you work on the images before they are done copying off the card.
So, the answer to your question is, yes, Aperture 3 is fast enough to work on the road on deadline.
I did it today a football game. I looked at 1579 and moved 22 images including 9 at halftime. |
