Broken Sigma 15mm Fisheye
Max Gersh, Photographer, Photo Editor

->> I was shooting with my Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX Fisheye lens (Canon mount) the other night and as I was changing the aperture, I noticed that the actual exposure wasn't changing.

When I got the images back to a computer, I noticed the photos were very blurry in the corners. This lens was sharp corner to corner since I bought it new in 2004.

Also, when I press the DOF preview, the lens makes a strange clicky sound but the view doesn't change.

I assume this is something to do with broken aperture blades. As is, the lens would work as a f/2.8 lens all of the time other than the extreme blur in the corners and around the edge.

Any guess on the problem exactly? Also, where is a good place to send a Sigma lens for repair?

Here is a sample of the image it is producing.

Thanks in advance for any help.

->> Max I don't know about Canon but on Nikon lenses there is a lever at the 7 o'clock position on the lens mount that couples with the camera's aperture control arm. If you move the lever on the lens the aperture blades open and close. Sometimes in the heat of battle the lever gets bent mounting or unmounting from the body.
