Nikon Coolscan 8000 ED Question

->> just wondering if anyone has ever had a problem with this scanner and soft corners when scanning 2 1/4 negs? We never had a problem before but this seems to be happening now and we can't figure out why. (and yes, the negs are sharp!)

->> HI Debra If you are not using a glass holder get one. Otherwise your film will not be flat . The glass 2 1/4 holders are the only way I could ever get sahrp negs out of the 8000

->> Yep, likely the corners are curled a little bit, thus throwing off the focus of the scanner (Same thing as DOF on a regular lens). The glass holders will keep it flat and uniform, which is needed as most scanners are fixed focus, and won't adjust with movement.

either the 869 g or the rotating model which is easier to use but more expensive
