Having lost my parents to cancer, I have chosen to fight back by using a sport I love to support the American Cancer Society's mission to eliminate cancer as a major health problem. With only five days to go before the race, I am only half way to my sponsor donation goal. I had a little setback today after I had a freak surfing accident when a longboarder without a leash lost his board and his fin split my head. I went to the ER and they sealed the gash with 5 staples and the doctor told me it would be better if I wasn't in the water for a week. But I told her the situation and said there was no way I was going to miss this race...I am now nearly two thirds of the way there with my sponsor goal and I can't thank you enough for your donations and kind words. I know that this thread is not really photography related, and not that many people know about paddleboarding, but cancer has effected someone we all know at some point in our lives including many current and former members of the Sportsshooter community. Since I started this endeavor, I have been touched and motivated by all the stories and people's names who succumbed to or beat cancer, and it will keep my arms going til I hit the mainland.
