->> The new 85 1.4G is crazy expensive at its UK list price of £1499 - hopefully it'll be a shade lower than that at retail. The current "D" version can be had for around the £850 mark.
That aside, I'm also quite interested in the 24-140 f/4 lens - the range ticks a lot of boxes and having a constant f/4 throughout that range is also a boon - I'll be looking closely at how well this one performs in reviews. |

| ->> I'm interested in the 24-120 too..... Like to see it compared to the 28-70 2.8 and see how it stacks up. Decent price point too! |

| ->> That's a big jump in price for the 85/1.4...AF-S would be nice but the current one is a great lens...hard to justify that upgrade for me. |

| ->> Need to see the siggy 85 1.4 vs the nikon 85 1.4...both new versions side by side...If its like the 50 1.4's....the siggy wins. |

->> The 24-120 looks really nice.
Brad,
Is the siggy 85 F1.4 out yet or does it have a release date?
The new nikon 85 looks nice as well. Pretty decent price points |

->> The D3100 finally is starting to look like a decent starter DSLR video option from Nikon. Full 1080P @ 24fps and 10 minutes max continuous shooting. I might have to break down and grab one to play with after the initial buying surge dies down.
I'd love a 24-120, but too dadgum expensive for an f4. |

| ->> I've always wanted an 85 1.4 (happy owner of a 1.8), but I can't see a justification for a doubling of the price just to add AF-S... : / |

->> To be honest, this is a very disappointing release.
The 85 1.4 "G" model is just an upgrade from the older "D" version. Yes, the older model was loud and clunky, but it it's anything like the newer 50 1.4 "G" version, it will focus slower than Christmas. The Canon equivalent 50 1.4 focuses much faster, so I know it's possible technology, it's just not a good design.
As far as the new zooms released, I am amazed that they put out a 28-300 and a 55-300 out at the exact same time. Nearly the same lens, both with poor aperture maximums. Simply a kit lens meant for consumers.
How about the 24-120 f/4? A nicer version of a zoom kit lens with a better aperture. Seems like they are trying to out-do Canon's 24-105. When really, Nikon needs to focus more on getting better primes out there. Nikon already has awesome zooms.. 24-70, 70-200 and 14-24 28's. They were on the right track with the 85 1.4, I just hope it focuses quicker than the 50.
The real disappointment lies within the DSLR "D3100". It looks like a consumer camera like a D40 or a D3000. A plastic and weak body, selling for about 700 dollars, it may have 14 mpx and 1080p, but those specs need to be seen on a full frame camera and with a rugged and professional body. I can't see a professional using one of these, it just won't stand the test of time and use. After all, I would wager that the D3100 doesn't even write to CF cards, but SD cards only.
In summary, the lenses seem disappointing with the exception of the over-priced 85 1.4. The well-performing camera is in a small plastic body is also a huge problem for pros. it doesn't seem that Nikon cares as much about the professional grade gear right now. |

->> I'm guessing, and it's pure speculation, that we'll be seeing a new pro Nikon DSLR announced in October. Last year at about the same time they announced the D3000 and D300s, then followed it up with the D3s two or three months later.
Again, just speculation but maybe... |
