OT: DLP Replacement Bulbs
Bradley Leeb, Photographer
Champaign | IL | USA | Posted: 3:00 PM on 08.17.10
->> The bulb on my Toshiba TV blew yesterday and I was looking to order a replacement. There are a lot of non-Toshiba bulbs out there that are considerably less expensive. Has anyone ever used one of these, and have they been reliable?

In addition, there are a number of online vendors to order from, has anyone had good service from anyone in particular? I don't want to end up ordering from the TV parts equivalent of a Broadway Camera or something like that!

Thanks!

->> I have used

dlplampxpress.com

twice and have been very happy with them. The bulb directly from the OEM can be very expensive.

I have replaced my bulb twice in 47 months. I think the first time it was $139 just for the bulb and shipping. I had to install it in the bulb case.

The second time it was $125 for the bulb, new case already installed, and shipping.

Make sure when you replace the bulb, do not touch it and get the oils from your hands on it. That will definitely shorten the bulbs life.

Happy shopping.

->> Guess I'm lucky...my Samsung lamp just went dim and I ordered the OEM from Samsung's distributor for $150 with shipping. Froogle revealed a few slightly cheaper lamps from various sources but they all had spotty customer reviews.

->> I have considerable experience. I don't recommend non-OEM, but it's not my set.

Email me the model # of the TV and the pricing on the bulb and I'll see if it's out of the ballpark for you.

Michael
