| ->> Looks like I might get to shoot the trifecta of world series next week! (the little league WS, that is) My co-worker Smiley has been a couple of times, but apparently they have a new stadium in Williamsport. Has anyone shot there in the last couple of years? Do I need a 300 or 400? Remotes? Thanks in advance for any info you can give me! |

->> I cant help you much but was thinking they may already have a contracted photographer? Not sure of any restrictions of gear in the stands. You may want to check out the site.

->> Karen ... lodging while you are at the series this year may be your biggest problem .... they usually reserve a block of rooms for visiting media ... but once they are gone ... they are gone ...
This region has had quite an increase in out of state workers involved with the Marcellus Shale projects ... hotel/motel and even bed and breakfast lodgings are at a premium ... and availability is spotty .... |

->> "He is the LLWS Official Photographer."
I'm not sure how many people realize it, but Little League actually holds eight separate World Series each year. There is one for each of the four age groups (Little, Junior, Senior, and Big) and one each for baseball (boys) and softball (girls). Unfortunately, most people only know about the LLBWS in Williamsport. This year I was the official photographer for the Big League Softball World Series in Kalamazoo, MI. http://www.sportsshooter.com/geoff/blsws/ |

->> Geoff - some nice images. The Junior League WS is going on a few miles from me in Taylor, Mi right now. I was one of the photographers for that event 3 years ago.
And you are correct, the LLBWS is definately the most popular - and receives the most media coverage. |

->> I was there in 2007. I would definitely bring a 300 2.8 and a 70-200. Not sure about remotes.

->> Andrew, thanks for the compliments. I've been on the World Series committee here for 6 years now. Up until this year I was the Team Coordinator for Latin America. We are rather unique in LLWS's in that our players live with host families instead of staying in hotels or dorms. Part of my work was to find hosts and act as the go-between between the coaches and the families. We normally hosted girls ourselves and the first year we had 5 teen-age Puerto Rican girls in our house... talk about a "party". This year they asked me to take over as the photographer.
I think it was three years ago that the Kalamazoo and Taylor World Series overlapped. When I arrived with the bus at Detroit Metro there were also folks from your series there picking up teams. |

->> Oddly enough, there are bunches of "World Series" events. I used to think that Williamsport was it. Well, there is Little League (the brand), Babe Ruth, Pony League and all kinds.
It is kind of fun. I have done the Cal Ripken Babe Ruth 12-under for the last three years. Cal Ripken is another huge "host family" spot. Not many hotels. It is a great tournament in a great spot though.
What is fun, and if I can make it worth my time, is that all of the US champions get together for this...
