If you think about it, there have to be a confluence of several things for this to occur. First of all, the fielder has to be willing to go for a ball like this rather than watching it sail over the fence. Second, it has to be hit in exactly the right place. Thirdly the wall/fence has to be "climable" - short enough for the fielder to reach over, and constructed to allow the fielder to bound up the wall - many MLB parks aren't. Fourthly, the fielder has to have the athletic ability to actually pull it off. All in all, pretty remarkable. I'm with you, Tim. I've been to hundreds (probably thousands) of baseball games in my life and never, ever, have seen a ball person run after a ball while the play was still underway.
