Basically all you need to do now to Jailbreak (which is totally legal, but may void your warranty) is to go with your iPhone/iPod Touch to http://jailbreakme.me
I believe all you have to do is push the slider across to jailbreak your IP/IPT. No need to download special Jailbreak software to do it. Unlock is coming in a few days. |

| ->> And a correction. It looks like it doesn't support the iPhone 2G. You'll have to Jailbreak the old fashioned way for that I guess. And the iPad is included in this Jailbreak. |

->> Hmmm, wonder if there is a tethering app that doesn't require AT&T's new data plan? (I'm still unlimited on my iPhone 4).

->> I get it works with OS 4.0 but does it work on a new iPhone ? I see on the site it sez it works with "Will work with all jailbroken iPhones (including 2G/3G/3GS) and iPad on 3.1.2 or later. " No mention of the new iPhone.
Thanks |

| ->> Angel - from what I understand a jailbreak is a software tweak, so it should work on iPhone 4 (there is no iPhone 4G yet). |

| ->> Steven - I thought iPads capable of transferring data over a network (not WiFi) were locked to AT&T. Is that not the case? |

->> MyWi 4.0 will work on the iPhone 4 to turn it into a WiFi hotspot or tethered wireless router. Using the USB to tether instead of WiFi uses less battery power but tethering still sucks down the battery and makes the iPhone get pretty hot if used a lot.
Once Jailbroken iPhones/iPads can be 'unlocked' which will allow them to use SIMs from different carriers. So you could use a Rogers SIM from Canada in them. Note that the iPhone 4 uses a micro SIM so a normal SIM will not fit without cutting it.
Jailbreaking and Unlocking will NOT allow an iPhone/iPad to be used on Verizon Wireless or Sprint. The radio system in the iPhone/iPad is incompatible with Verizon and Sprint's mobile networks.
Jailbreaking and Unlocking WILL allow you to use the iPhone for VOICE ONLY on T-Mobile's network and with Go Phone SIM cards. The radio system in the iPhone is incompatible with T-Mobile's data network but you can still do data over WiFi. GoPhones don't have data plans with them but the iPhone can still do data over WiFi.
Those who bought the 3G iPad early enough have the unlimited 3G plan which is nice for using MyFi with, AT&T has now capped iPad data to 2GB/month. iPhone owners who bought before the iPhone 4 have data plans that (although are called unlimited) are capped at 5GB/month. New iPhone plans are 2GB/month. If you are on the old 5GB/month plan you will be grandfathered in with that plan if you buy a new iPhone 4, make sure you get this. |
