->> There's a new contest out there with some very interesting prizes for the winners. There are a number of categories that make entering very exciting and interesting. Some great prizes for the winners. The sports category sounds interesting. Check it out.

->> And the Lux awards only need 2,917 images entered at $12 a pop to cover their published list of prize values!

Luckily, there's no need to edit your work down to the best, as there's no limit how many images any one photographer can enter. Yay!

If you haven't guessed, I'm not particularly a fan of contests with entry fees and no entry limits, whatever the usage rights are. At least make it seem like it is expected that entrants edit down their take to their best images.

Seriously, then all you'd need is 300 entrants to submit what they think are their 10 best shots at $12/photo to cover the posted prize costs, and this at least gives the illusion of an expectation of quality and self-editing on the part of the entrants.

->> Not to be super negative here, because this does sound like a contest with some good rules and entry fees, but if I won the sports category I'd have to do what I do every day on my job, which is shoot another assignment with accomplished sports photographers. Been there done that.

I'd rather have cash!

Jack: The entry fee forces self-editing. Plus, most serious photo contests require an entry fee, even BOP and POYi. I have no problems with the rules.
