->> Debbie,
Gitzo makes the best monpods & tripods available, with a 5-year warranty. (it used to be lifetime of the product I believe.) I have a G1564, which is plenty tall enough or me. Although that model # isn't listed on their current web page, you can see they have several models which should suit your (or anybody's) needs. Be prepared to shell out some serious money for their products though. I have two of their monopods.

->> thanks Chet,
seems the tallest one here is about 75"..I'll have to go see it in person.
I need it to be tall enough for when I am standing on a ladder/tall stool-most of the concerts I shoot these days are from the soundboard and my old Gitzo isn't tall enough
Hope you're well. (did you need a ladder? There was something I was going to give you the next time you;re in NYC but I forgot what it was) |

| ->> might try a ladder with a build in paint try holder, they flip out in front of you and then you can just use your old monopod just and idea, might be cheaper than new monopod |

->> Put the foot of the monopod on your foot, as if you're firing a weapon - one foot slightly ahead of the other, or even collapsed on a fanny pack on your waist, if you have something sturdy in the bag. You could even affix something to your ladder to hold the monopod's foot. Come to think of it, head to Home-Depot or Lowe's and look for one of those heavy duty carpenter's tool belts that may have a pocket in the front. Similar to how flag bearer's support a flag pole at their waist in parades, etc. I do it all the time while standing on a step-ladder - with the "stick" on my right foot. It'll also increase the height of the monopod an inch or two. An old Fashion-Week / major press conference trick while precariously balanced atop on either my aluminum ladder / step tool. Yikes!
*I haven't been in NYC in months - only the airports when traveling, and then it's mostly only EWR & JFK. I believe it was a luggage cart you offered, and I'm surely going to need to upgrade before Army football and the coming basketball seasons. Thanks. I'll get down there soon for coffee or drinks one Sunday afternoon.

| ->> I was at a hardware store the other day that sold flag holders for parades. Seemed like an idea for a too tall photographer. |

| ->> There's an adapter floating around that will top a painter or window washer's pole with a 5/8 stud that could hold the Manfrotto camera platform. If nobody else chimes in, I have the part ID at home. |

->> I use dense foam block wrapped in gaffers tape. Something similar to a yogo block. You can either have one big one or stack smaller ones to adjust height. I prefer using 3 10x8x2" blocks and use 1 to 3 depending on how much height I need.
The flag holder idea isn't a very good one imho. Balancing a 300 or 400 that way isn't really a fun idea when you are on a ladder :) |

| ->> Karsten - That's good idea, save the note that says" THIS ITEM NO LONGER AVAILABLE" Someone may have them on hand, but the big stores are probably sold thru. |

->> Hi Deb,
I just ordered and recieved this little gaget for the upcoming football season. http://www.photoxgear.com/2009/11/aputure-gigtube-dslr-live-view-finder/
Might be useful for getting over the crowd at concerts also. I haven't tried in the field yet but, I think it might be a handy little thing for high and low angle shots.
