Composite Images?

->> I put this together off of 9 sequential images that I was lucky enough to grab in focus. Anyone who sells to parents, schools, etc... have you seen a market for the 3-4 foot by 1 foot banners?
I know that my colleges clients do a few of the 48x12 banners for their hallways. Just wondering if anyone has seen this demand in the amateur market. It seems that it would be expensive to print.
Suggestions? Comments?

I realize that I am no PS pro. I just threw it together to see what it would look like. It is funnier together than in separate images, though. At the time, it looked like the kid broke his back.
Thanks in advance. |

->> Nice squence to put together. you are correct on the expense to print. I have had requests from parents for this type of composite image, but when they hear the price, they generally opt for the series of 4x6's or 5x7's and frame them together. There are also frames that have 4-6 openings that you can mount individual prints in. We have done this for high school sports banquets and received some interest.
good luck

| ->> Sorry I can't help on the printing, but...where's the ball in all of that? Did he actually catch it? |

->> He was the right fielder and called off the center fielder for some reason - thus why he had to layout for the ball. The ball bounced past him (out of frame) to the center fielder who was backing up.
I wish the ball was there. Hey, maybe I can Photoshop it in? Kidding - I've seen the firestorm threads about the Getty guy. I don't alter images - unless I get a random Gatorade bottle on the turf, etc. Nothing that changes the intent of the image. Stuff for the newspaper - never change a thing.
I found a place that printed it 52" x 10" and it only cost ME $30. So there was definitely room for a markup. This print composite (unframed) sold for $250. I think I got a fair price for it. A series of prints would have gotten close to that anyway.
The place is http://www.largeformatposters.com - I may start using them for my 24x36 jobs if the quality is good. I'll post once I get the finished product.
The only thing is that I wish I had the 400mm on the Mark IV or at least my 1.4x TC II on the 300mm. But I only had the 300mm 2.8 on. Would have been nice to get that extra reach and not have had so much dead space to crop out.
It's not a great PS job, but it was good enough. I missed a fence post in the first two frames. I'll have to practice a little more.
If anyone knows of a resource that is targeted on making stitched panoramics or composites like this one - please let me know. |
