->> There is a discussion going on in the computer conferences at Starting Grid which talk about a "car keychain camera". The URL to the discussion, with lots of links both in the US and to a forum in Holland, can be found at:

I think these sound pretty fascinating, and they don't cost all that much either. However, I'd rather buy one from a "real" shop, hopefully something like B&H, than from an unknown ebay seller.
Anybody here have one? Any advice on where to buy one?
I'm not sure what I want to do with it yet, but until last week I never heard of such a thing!
(I just checked my link, and it has buttons for how to sign up. If anyone from Sportsshooter does try to create an account there, there's no need to send the money that the system asks for - just send me an email, and I'll validate your account at no charge.) |

->> What Roelof has been telling us in the discussion I linked to, is that there are several models and to get the best results you need to get a particular one, then use a higher speed memory card than standard.
Apparently the "model #3" is best. Then, to avoid jitters, you need a "C4 rated card". One place to get lots of information is http://chucklohr.com/808/ . His latest comment is "You can find these in spy shops but I have seen prices up to 80 euro's. The best way is just Hobbyking or ebay."
Apparently I was wrong; I was under the impression that anything this popular would be sold by stores in the US as well as on internet shops.
Eric, did you figure out how to determine which model you bought? If it's the #3, could you please post the web addy for it? |

->> Michael I bought it from this seller

Claims it to be the "#3" and for $18 I'm willing to take the risk. I got an email last night from him with a pdf instruction sheet, a link to drivers, and a link to an Amazon page for the recommended 4gb chip.
I surfed through the 808 website too and picked up some info. I have an idea for a couple of uses for this thing and while I understand that we're not talking HD it might still prove to be fun....... |
