KALO OLA - Taro is Life

->> My latest short film from Hawaii is now online at:

http://www.vimeo.com/13313255

Shot on a 7D with some scenes on a GoPro HD.

Anakala Pilipo Solatario is the eighth generation taro farmer of his ohana in remote Halawa Valley on the island of Molokai. The poi pounding tools and bowl are almost 200 years old.

On another note: I wanted to thank those who are attending Platypus Maine. We have a sell out for Shoot N Edit, with some Producer slots left.

Hope you like the film and mahalo for watching.

PF

P.S. Isn't taro picking an Olympic Sport in 2012? :)

->> Aloha PF,

I live on Oahu and I am trying to convince certain clients to use DSLR's for sports work. A lot of motion and tracking with a steadicam. They are hesitant, maybe because they dumped a bunch of money into HD cams. Anyways,
Beautiful work. I checked out your other videos as well. Excellent! It seems the 7D does not have the "jello" effect when doing a pan or tilt that the 5D has. Or does it and do you correct it in post?

Many Mahalos

->> Aloha Hugh - I'm pretty careful not to move the camera too quickly one way or the other so I avoid the jello!

You know, change is hard for some people, at times they just have to see it to understand what you mean. Maybe do a test shoot and see how it goes.

Mahalo for your nice comments.

Patrick Murphy-Racey has done some great sports footage with DSLRs. Some of it is on Vimeo, and I think there was discussion somewhere in the archives.

Geek question: What are you L&Ting your files as? 422 LT, or something different?
