->> I used my mini "Hackintosh" about 2 months ago and all was perfect. Yesterday when I went to use it, the battery was dead and won't charge. Is this "normal" for a battery to die so suddenly and not hold a charge? (not sure how old it is as I bought this used)
I see a lot of generic batteries out there for the mini-anyone have any problems with them? |

| ->> Try working with the sleep kexts, sometimes when the lid closes and the settings aren't right, it wont actually sleep, just stay on. |

| ->> I put mine to sleep with the Fn1 Buttons, close the lid, when I open it again, it wakes up. |

->> ok-still wondering if batteries die and stop holding charges as fast as this. The battery was fully charged, now it is dead after sitting for 2 months and it won't hold a charge.
I'm not asking how to put it to sleep |

I had the same issue with a dell netbook I bought for my wife from a friend (and via google learned that there are alot of people with this problem). I even bought a new battery and it wouldn't charge.
Turns out there was an issue with the bios that caused the problem. I went to the dell site and downloaded and installed the most recent bios and all seems to be working well.
Not sure if that would be your issue, but its worth a shot. |

is your wife's Dell runing as a PC or Mac? Will updating the BIOS to AO4 affect it if it is running as a Mac? |

| ->> Hopefully not in your case BUT laptop batteries can just die overnight; i've had exactly that happen with a MacBook Pro....fine one day, dead the next. |
