Battery powered studio strobes

->> I've been shooting more outside location work where I don't always have power. I use a set of older Speedotron 1201A pack in studio and I would like to use it outdoor as well for times when I want more power than speedlites.
I've been renting Profoto 7B and I love using it of course, but I have to drive to DC to get it and it is really a pain to go from downtown Baltimore to downtown DC.
Other than buying a Speedotron Explorer pack or another battery operated set, what are my options? Can I use a small battery pack like a Vagabond or is that not enough power? Generator?
I've searched around and haven't found anything specific either way. |

| ->> I use a innovatronix xt explorer. It has to be ordered through their website from the Philipines. It is rated at 2400 w/s peak. I have used it for shoots lasting several hours and 4-5 hundred pops with a single or 2 300 w/s photo flex strobes and it still shows a full charge when done. It is very small but weighs about 20 lbs and is enclosed in a metal box. Also if you ever need to replace the batteries they are available at most hardware stores for under 20 dollars and it takes 2. They have a compatibility list on their site |

->> The Vagabond lights up to four heads with the aid of a power strip. I find it more than adequate.
After four lights you get more complex with lighting and power.
Are you lighting a set or something on location? If not, Vagabond should do. I'm powering four B800's. |

| ->> Brian I have a set of Lumidyne I'd be happy to sell you since I'm not using them any longer. It includes AC/DC, Battery, Cigarette Lighter, 2 strobes, umbrellas, stands and all the wiring. I even have a couple peanut wireless remotes. Let me know if your interested. |

| ->> The Vagabond works great. I picked up a small three outlet splitter that fits into the case with the battery, but then I have three flash heads... |

->> I appreciate all the emails and offers for different systems.
Sorry for the confusion, it was late and my original post seems a bit confusing.
I'm looking for a power supply that can power my Speedotron 1201A pack since I already have 2 heads and modifiers for that system. Either battery or a generator. Want to use something lighter than 30 lbs if possible, though not my biggest concern.
Tom - I took a look at the Innovatronix XT Explorer, that looks really good. It's just a bit more than a Vagabond and it's in stock. |

| ->> I second the Innovatronix unit. Had one for a few years and love it love it love it. Used my buddies Vagabond before and the 'Tronix is much better built and works like a champ. |

| ->> I bit the bullet this year and picked up a Honda EU2000i gas generator to power my Dynalite M1000wi packs. By far one of the best investments I have made. I looked at battery packs and pure sine inverters but with the gas generator, I never have to worry about maintaining a battery, making sure it is charged or slowing recycle time. I just gas it up and go. Its quiet and hums right along without skipping a beat. Granted I don't fly with it but these Honda generators are available at most event and tool suppply rental companies. Before I purchased mine I rented one local for a day ($35) to make sure it would power my packs. |

| ->> Dynalite XP1100 battery pack. Works great and no slow down on recycling. All the outdoor shots on my sportsshooter page were done with a Dynalite 1000w pack hooked up to the XP1100. |

| ->> +1 on the Honda EU2000, I use it for powering strobes as needed and also for powering a 4 station onsite viewing/printing setup. It's super quiet, uses very little gas, really a great generator. |
