A couple weeks ago, going down a hill at about 25 mph, I caught out of my right eye, a beaver running towards my path of travel. The beaver timed his crossing so that my 29er front wheel ran him over dead center. His girth and momentum lifted my front wheel about 6 inches up and to the left. I managed to regain control of my bike as the beaver waddled off the trail. I have always wondered what goes through the mind of a cyclist in a peloton during a crash. What is the anatomy of a peloton crash? And if you are going down hill at 25 mph, you aren't going fast enough. Juerg, thanks for the heads up.
