iPhone and iTunes don't communicate
Angel Valentin, Photographer

->> I recently upgraded to an iMac with a clean install of Snow Leopard and now iTunes doesn't recognize my iPhone. I've tried almost everything suggested to me; hard reset of iPhone, tried all the ports, new cables, restarted the Mac and iPhone several times. Uninstalled iTunes and re installed it several times. Wiped the iPhone. Upgraded to the latest software and still nothing. I'm almost considering going back to OS5. The iMac reads my iPod just fine. I'm still holding on to my MacBook to keep my calendar, contacts and podcasts up to date.
What to do ?

->> TJ - Do you mean to tell me that EVERY post on here should have to do with photos and nothing else? And that helping someone who is having trouble with their iPhone and iTunes is irrelevant to this message board? Its just as relevant to me as is finding out "What that noise is at the World Cup" or the post about the body painted women (I didn't see ANYONE complain about that one). I think you need to take a quick look back at a few thousand other threads that have even less to do with photography than this one does and notice how there were no comments on any of them that gave the same "unwilling to help" tone that yours did. Sorry, I'm not normally one to call people out, but I couldn't hold back this time.

Angel - I wish I had an answer for your problem. Sorry that I can't help in that aspect.

->> Angel have you tried to reset your iPhone? It's an easy process and no loss of data will occur. That should solve your problem.

->> Angel, have you tried this. Connect your iphone to the computer, go to application menu and open image capture, on the top left hand side under devices it should show your iphone, now go to the bottom of the left side it should say connecting this iphone opens, in the drop down box if it does not say iTunes, if it does not select other this will take you to the apps menu scroll till you find itunes apps and select that close image capture. Now disconnect phone and reconnect again hopefully this will open itunes. Good luck hope this helps.

->> Sorry to touch a nerve there Jason. I use this site mainly for photo information. I didn't know I had forum police monitoring my opinion.

->> Hey Angel,

Give iTunes 9.2 a shot.

http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

It just came out today. Also, you could try deleting the preference file for itunes.

->> iPhone/itunes issue solved. It was a simple OS software update and now everything is working smoothly. Thanks all.

Jason, thanks for your reply. Like you and many others I've read countless "off photo topic" threads here and some of them have been very helpful. And for the record, I carry samples of my work in my iPhone so it is relevant.
