Especially since noise reduction in vastly improved. I do not see any need for third party solutions/external noise reduction any more. With LR 2 i had to do noise reduction in PS. Then in the same tab you can use "verify disk" - this will check your hard drive for any problems; if it finds any, you have to reboot off of your OSX cd - put the cd in the drive and hold down "c" while it boots. Pick your language then go to the "utilities" menu and then "disk utility"... Same window, but now "verify disk" is available - click it and it'll run for a while. You might have to reinstall some applications if they don't run properly - sometimes they'll be depending on a file which was partially damaged, but on the part that worked - but during the repair it'll be lost.
