->> Hey gang, I'm looking for a bit of inspiration. I'm shooting a portrait of an upcoming boxer tonight and I'd love to see some nice work. Any links you can throw my way would be great! Thanks!

->> Hey Dan, SportsShooter Academy recently posted this: http://sportsshooteracademy.com/ and if you scroll down just past Robert's Gyllenhaal portraits you will see what their students did with a few boxers. A behind the scenes look for inspiration. Cool stuff.

->> Try lighting from above. (They also did this in the sports academy video with a small softbox.) The harsh lighting will help draw some shadow across every muscle and every curve in their face. I once shot a fight that was lit solely by four overhead stadium lights, which worked well for the portrait-type pictures. Wasn't bright enough for the action, but oh well.
