| ->> My studio mate had a 1/2 day worth (1500 files) of images get copied over and deleted. A folder with the same name replaced the original folder containing the missing/deleted images. He was able to use Data rescue to find all the missing files, but now they have different file names and invalid jpeg markers so they are unable to be accessed with any photo program. Is there a way to repair the jpg markers or force open the corrupted files? |

->> I've had luck opening jpgs that would not open with Adobe Photoshop by using Graphic Converter. (http://www.lemkesoft.com/download.html)
I open the files in Graphic Converter and resave them as jpgs and then they work fine. |

->> the only help i can offer is that i get that message when i accidentally save a photoshop file with a .jpg suffix. i'd try experimenting to see if you change the suffix to .tif or .psd if it makes a difference.
strangely, with a corrupt file saved with the .jpg suffix as a photoshop file, if you change the suffix, it opens again. bizarre that even CS4 still can be so easily fooled.
it might do the trick... good luck ! |
