MAC + Entourage + Smart phone = Help

->> Plain and simple I need advice from people who have had first hand experience using Entourage and having it sync nearly perfectly with their smart phone, preferably on Verizon.

I'm using a Blackberry Storm which will only sync with Entourage if I sync Entourage with iCal & Address book via the Blackberry Desktop Manager. I've had all sorts of weird little things start to happen and find that about every 3-4 months I need to wipe my phone clean & start over. Twice this has resulted in erasing my calendar completely.

I love my my Mac, but think Apple's iCal is a crap-plication.

I'm willing to try Droid, LG, anything, but switching to AT&T. I'll even consider installing Windows.

Is there any phone out there that will just sync with Entourage?

Now, I'm not sure that Windows and Outlook will solve your problems, but if you need Windows, I just thought I'd mention VirtualBox.

Well, to say 'Sync Nearly Perfectly' is pretty subjective.
I use The Missing Sync to sync my BB Curve 8330 to my Macbook Pro (via Bluetooth). And I do use Entourage for my Email.
The calendar syncs perfectly to iCal and I haven't had any problems.
I don't sync my email. Typically, when my MBP is sleeping, I just get my emails on my BB (via 2 different accounts) and I try and manage my emails as much as possible before opening my MBP and sucking in all the remaining emails.
The address book doesn't sync between the BB and Entourage directly. The Missing Sync syncs my BB address book with the Mac address book, which is separate than the Entourage address book.
Here is the aggravation I have had: There is a service that runs on the Mac (I believe it is installed with Entourage) that keeps the Entourage address book in sync with the Mac address book. So, in a perfect world, the Missing Sync would sync my Mac addr book, and the Entourage service would then keep it in sync with Entourage.
However...
That service from Entourage kept crashing on me (typical Microsoft crap). So, I killed it, uninstalled it, and now I have to manually sync the two address books if I need an address on Entourage AND on my phone.
But in my world, this isn't a huge deal.
Personally, even though I like Entourage, I would give it up WAY before giving up my Mac. Like most MS products, it doesn't work quite right with the Mac.

Also, for Mac, Entourage doesn't like to work with anything other than an Exchange server which automatically syncs calendars, address book and obviously handles mail. Regardless of whether you use gmail for your mail or not, google's sync application is a great way to keep your contacts and calendars up to date, without having to plug in and sync your berry. Both Address Book and iCal can be configured to keep connected to gmail for calendar and address book sync, so you never have to plug in, and as an added bonus, there is redundancy built into the system because everything is saved on your gmail account.

->> Vince-

My crude workaround for the iphone is to get emails in both places (on my computer and on the iphone), with the iphone set to "leave messages on server." If it comes to the iphone first, I still get a copy of the email on my computer next time I open it up. If it comes to the computer first, then there's no need for an iphone copy in most cases.

I've used missing sync with several smart phones and Entourage over the years, and it works well. On the iphone, I just export contacts from Entourage to Mail every once in a while so that they stay fairly current.

Not a perfect solution, I know, but I, too like Entourage better than Mail/Address book.
