->> I have been using Auto FP on my D3 for a couple months and love the ability to shoot over 1/250. I've been trying to find a way to use my SB-900 as a master flash to trigger a SB900 and SB800 the same way. I can get them to fire, but I my flash is stuck in RPT mode, I can't get it to switch to TTL and use the other flashes.
So Basically,
I want my SB900 to take the exposure like it normally does, and send it to the other two flashes, so I can use them as fill lights. The only problem is I want to have them shoot about 1/250.
Any help would be appreciated. |

| ->> Yea, I was trying to figure that out too a few weeks ago but using my strobes to fire my SB-900. I was wanting to use the SB-900 with a gel to throw a little color on my background for some portraits I was doing. I couldn't figure out how to change the mode of the 900 to manual when it was in wireless remote mode though so that I could change the output. So, I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has figured out how to do this. |

| ->> I think you can do this if you use an SU-800 as the commander ... but not with using a flash as the commander ... not sure why .... |

->> Couple of things going on here...
Chris, try controlling the flash settings from the camera, not the SB-900. Put the on-camera SB-900 in 'master' mode then put the other two flashes in remote mode. Set shutter speed on the D3 along with other flash settings. You shouldn't need FP for 1/250, only above that speed.
Russ, you're doing something very different - using the SB-900 as a "dumb" remote flash. You should be able to do this in SU-4 mode - see p. D50 of the manual.
