Kirk mentioned previously that unless a major bug is found this is the last planned updated to the 4.6 series of the program. |

->> Just got off the phone with Bob with Camera Bits. Rotatable Crop Tool is the #1 requested feature and they now have the tool in the Alpha testing stage.
He indicated that he could not say if it would be included in version 5.0 but wanted to assure me that they are well aware of the importance of this feature and are working hard to incorporate this feature as soon as possible.
Remember, size wise -- Camera Bits is not Adobe so it takes them a little longer to develope new features. |

->> Actually my experience shows that it takes them LESS time than Adobe...as long as they know that the feature is value added.

->> found a bug in 4.6.4 for us. We are set up to ingest with the folder named with the date and job for our archiving and transmitting needs. In the new version of PM when you ingest and have it set up to save into a folder that you name and then put {date}_{job} in this spot, instead of the folder being named with a date and the job, it creates three separate folders. The first folder is named only with the month, the second folder is named the day and the last folder is named year_what ever your job is. For example today was 5-15-10 so the first folder was named 5 the second folder was named 15 and the last folder where all the images were is named 10_(my job). The last two folders are inside the first one.
It is very annoying and requires extra steps to get our photos ready to transmit into our main office. Hopefully Camerabits will fix this and soon. |

->> August I'm not using 4.6.4 (I'm still on ancient 4.5.3), so things might be different. But one possible solution would be not to use {date}_{job}, but simply {month0}-{day0}-{year2}_{job} for 05-15-10_job or {month}-{day}-{year2}_{job} for 5-15-10_job. I don't know if this will make same error as {date}_{job} did it, but it's option I would try.
PS: I agree with Delane. Guys at Camera Bits are great, and it takes MUCH less time to develop something new, then it would take at Adobe... if someone would even bother to listen your requests at Adobe ;) |

->> Is this on Mac OS X? If so, the "/" used by the {date} variable is the Unix file system path separator (externally, OS X uses ":" but the underlying Unix file system uses "/").
Photo Mechanic is probably just passing the name, slashes and all, to the file system which interprets the slashes as directory separators. Using slashes in a file name can still be done in some circumstances but it's a really bad idea and can make a big mess.
I don't know how previous versions of Photo Mechanic handled it but a work around would be to use dashes instead of slashes for the date. |
