Photo Mechanc and Western Digital drives

->> So I bought a new WD 1TB external drive this past week. When I hooked it up to my MBP, without thinking, I happened to install the WD Smartware software (first mistake). I was able to remove all o that, but not before a problem that occurred.

When running PM, with now any of my three WD drives - I am trying to move photos from one folder to anothe within PM (by selecting and dragging) PM locks on me, and my whole Mac lacks as well. Some of th photos are moved, PM stops. The only solution is to power down.

This phenomenon does not happen when moving photos within PM while the folder I am working on is either on my hard drive, or my Seagate external drive.

Anyone have any possible solutions to this problem?

->> I have a WD 1TB that I just bought 2 weeks ago. This is my second one. I left the WD Smartware installed. I also use Photo Mechanic. If you can, back up the drive, wipe it, and start over. There might be a reason why the Smartware needs to be installed. I haven't had any issues so far. Worth a try, also, you should be able to take it back after only a week, so that's another option. Hope that helps you.

->> Per Kirk @ Camera Bits - I installed 4.6.4 beta, and it seems to have fixed the problem.

->> FWIW, I have never installed any of the WD Smartware..
I own over 12 WD Drives, and I have never done it on any of my Macs.
