->> I was going to be until Churchill shorted the paper I shoot for in KY. 'Gave' us credentials then never followed through in giving them.
I have plenty of comments about Churchill from a thoroughbred racing horseman and media photographer's perspective...but they arent worth my time to say. Have a great day tomorrow. Stay dry is all I can say. |

->> I haven't seen many/any shots from members that covered the Derby. Anyone have anything worth showing? I wasn't able to go, and got to watch Calvin ride another flawless race from the comfort of my warm and dry room.
Lets see them...please :) |

->> My favorite shot of Derby was at the post race presser.
Borel rode the race AFTER the Derby (as he always does) and was late. He became dehydrated (reported) and didn't feel well, upsetting his wife, Lisa. They arrived at the stage for the presser in a bit of a spat. Checkout her reaction to his "three Derby gloating", last in my member port... and a kiss shot on my site. |

->> Great shots everyone! I was bummed I couldnt go this year.
I can tell you from personal experience as a jockey that riding is VERY physically taxing and these guys dont drink during the day to keep weight down. A rider died at Colonial Downs in 2007 from exhaustion and dehydration. Its very serious stuff out there. |

| ->> The presser photo is kinda classic. She was P-I-S-S-E-D. Funny, they gave Calvin that bottle of water after the race and he poured it on Super Saver. |

->> Nice stuff, Wallot - love the overhead of the women petting the horse. Sorry we didn't have more time to chat in the infield!
I finally got my images from the Herald-Leader and put a few on my member page and on my website.

After twelve years working the Derby for the Herald-Leader, this Derby was actually the first time I had the chance to shoot two things I never have before: The infield and the race itself. It was a great day to be in the infield as it was raining all day and mud everywhere. The place is a goldmine. |

->> David, The frame of that guy losing his pants in the Porta-Potty Gauntlet is priceless. Too bad the HL ran the safe shot instead. Great, great stuff.
I believe you are the "Infield Cowboy" |
