->> Reminder - keep a copy of your old installation and CD's or installer files. Bugs happen sometimes!
If you're on a mac, you can just go into Applications and right-click the application and go to "compress ..." to make an extra copy. |

->> I am on the fence as I had gotten CS3 suite and never use any of the other products, although I tell myself this is the year I take on In Design...
Don't know if there is a benefit to just purchase Photoshop upgrade or not, since the budget is super tight and I really am tired of converting from Lightroom to open RAWs...
Any insights? |

->> Ian ... the beta testing on PSCS5 was pretty broad this time around and I think most of the major bugs have already been squashed ... though I'm sure a few may still linger ... on an app as massive as PS it's always possible.
So far, by the amount of traffic on the support forums, there doesn't seem to be as much hoopla with problems as in the past for first day adopters ... My install was smooth and I jumped on it mainly for 64 bit capability with Mac OS X ... it sure is much quicker and more responsive for many tasks.
Scott ... I'm not one to buy software simply because there is something new and I feel compelled to have the latest and greatest ... I passed on CS4 mainly because it wasn't 64 bit capable on the Mac ... now it is, as well as other new or improved features will save me much time and frustration with daily chores ... software is a tool and the $199 price tag less my 15% NAPP discount brought it down to $169 ... calculating the average version cycle of 18-24 months ... the upgrade will amortize out to about just over $7.00 per month .... half that if I decide to skip PSCS6 .....
So it shouldn't take long for the upgrade to pay for itself ....
Oh ... and InDesign .... very nice tool to work with for design work ... I use it for all my wedding albums and ad designs, page layout I do for clients. Still using CS3 and I haven't decided if I'm going to upgrade yet ... have to scope out the new features to see if I need to make the jump .... |
