Video version of photomechanic?

->> Anyone have a browser they are using to view video files (AVCHD) similar to photomechanic etc? I've got Sony's basic program but it's a little like using the Nikon file viewer that came with my D700, kinda lame.

I'd like something I could see thumbnails of the video files in a folder, click on one to watch it in a larger window, rank files with a star/color code. I googled a little bit, but most of the results I got were for shareware programs, hard to sort out the good from the bad.

My video files are .mov, and they open in PM as a JPG preview image, right alongside my still photos. If I want to quickly view a clip, it opens in QuickTime when I hit 'Edit'. I could set the default video-editing software to something else in Preferences, if I needed to, but for fast previewing, QuickTime is great. When I've seen what I need to see, I close window and return to PM, ready to tag the preview JPG accordingly.

Until PM begins playing the clips by itself, this is a pretty quick work-around. In fact, I don't think playing them in PM would really speed up my workflow very much.

Good luck.
