Here's how to cover an NBA team:

->> That's outstanding, Bruce -- and thanks for sharing, T$.
Quick question -- how hard was it securing the access you guys got for this? Looks like it was pretty damned good.
Just curious. Any other info Bruce has on this would be awesome. I hereby nominate the guy to write an article about this for the site ... if he has time.
Cheers,

| ->> I'm not a blazers fan but I'm a huge NBA (Lakers) fan and these are awesome photos. I love the access that Bruce was given. I'd love to be able to do something like this during my career but that is tough living in Arkansas! |

->> I'll let Bruce speak for himself on this if he chooses, but I can tell you nothing was "given" to him as far as access. He shoots over forty games a season at home and a few on the road. He has earned trust over a long period of time. He has learned who the decision makers are and has a great relationship with the team.
I'm not sure if he knows about this thread yet. He might be on his way to Phoenix. |

->> Thanks guys.
I have been wanting to share my approach to getting some of this access with the folks here at ss. There are some interesting stories and suggestions that I think would help others out there do the same. I don't really have time to do it now, but I will see if I can get some computer time while I am on the road in Phoenix for the playoffs.
As for now -- at least 4 more games to shoot ... |

He's with them when they rehab, he's with them in Mississippi or Seattle or wherever in the off season. I could (and do) sit next to him at games and he just nails everything. If it's a story telling moment, key play, or injury (and they've had a million of em this year) Bruce is on it. Every time. It's a running joke in the media room. Brandon Roy's wife emails him for photos of the kids. He could probably run the point on this team, hell earlier this year they could have used him. The players, coaches and managment (all the way up to the top) all know him and trust him and that's why he has the access he does. Hard work pays off. Sorry to go on and on, but I really respect what Bruce does for the paper and his coverage of this team and love his work and look forward every game to seeing what the rest of us miss. Good job my friend. |

->> Thanks Craig. The check is in the mail. Have you seen me play ball? That should earn you some "Funny" marks.
Here are some more pictures from a recent road trip I was on with the team. After my fellow co-worker Jamie Francis suggested it, I collected the audio clips to pair with a few of the pictures. Great idea! Juwan Howard's words are great.
