Talk about illegal use of photos

->> I could be wrong, but is a news agency allowed to take a photo of someone's facebook to use in their news story about that person. I seriously doubt the person in the story approved the use of their photos.
Check it out here, the article involves a campaign worker for Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal being injured in the french quarter over the weekend, the news station uses two photos from the woman's facebook page to show who she is.

We've used photos from LSU students' Facebook profiles before at The Reveille. And to my knowledge, or at least how it was explained to me, it falls under "Fair Use." That is, we're using the photo in a different manner it was originally intended.
I'm not sure how it falls ethically; but as far as legality, we haven't come across any issues. |
