Price for Marketing Use?

->> Hey, quick question about pricing for a photo for use in marketing. I know editorial pricing, but have no idea for commercial purposes, in this case for someone using it to market their theater show (it's a one-person show, and the shot is a portrait).

The portrait session was for something else, but I'm 99% sure I can use a separate shot from the session for other purposes (I still hold my copyright to all of the images), just gotta clear it with an editor first. The shoot was quick and dirty on-location (I was done and over with everything in about 3 hours) and though I brought a light, I ended up using the ambient (it was a great overcast, rainy day, and I'm a sucker for that diffuse, blue light). So basically my only real cost incurred directly from the shoot was 5 bucks for public transit; I have low overhead.

Can't think of any more factors that might weigh on the price. I know the person won't have a massive budget, but if anyone could give me an estimate on what they would normally charge, just to give me a general idea that would be really helpful. On the board is fine, but a private message is probably best.

Thanks!

->> Well Daniel, There are several factors more to think about concerning the price. It's great it was done for another project, so I guess that takes care of the work involved, but now you are dealing with licensing the photo for a particular use, and that is what you need to determine next. Are they printing flyers to hand out on the street? Do they have a Website? Will it be 1/8 of a page on that site or will it be THE MAIN page? Find out HOW it will be used.

That could be the difference between $125 and $2500, to give an example!
