TV use of stills

->> I have been contacted by TV station inquiring about use of a still image to illustrate a broadcast news story. (They've already done the reporting; given the story I'm not at all surprised that the amount of useable footage is minimal.)
This is new terrain for me, so I'm looking for a little advice from those with experience on how to proceed (usage, rates, etc.) - on or off list, whichever you prefer.
Thanks,

->> Mr. Wakoff,
Depends on the nature of the story, but I'll tell you that I was approached by two different TV shows requesting use of images I made to accompany a newspaper story about a good Samaritan.
CBS News paid $200 an image for 3 images, another show on TBS paid $125 for one. Both were for one-time usage.
Of course, for local television news operations, we often provide our images as a courtesy, in exchange for a credit.
If you were the only person with images from your story, and it wouldn't be easy to arrange for new ones, you're in a better position to push for a higher price.
I hope this helps.
