Palm Pre Pixi Plus on Verizon as hot spot, syncing with Mac

Verizon has a special on the Palm Pre Pixi Plus which will do e-mail (something I need to start doing on a phone) and will also work as a mobile hot spot allowing my mac to send photos when I can't get on the internet via normal methods. I read the other threads that mention using the Palm Pre on sprint and appreciated that info. I'm interested in hearing from those who have experience with this phone (or it's family members) on Verizon and using a mac. Also interested in ease of syncing contacts and calendar with Entourage. I assume I'll need to buy a Missing Sync product for that? The Verizon special throws in the "data package" for free meaning as long as I don't exceed 5 GB of cell phone-as-hot-spot usage per month I will not have to pay extra saving me $60ish per month and giving me mobile internet access when I need it.
