->> I have had one since Saturday a.m. and really like it for my purposes.
I purchased it to use as a nice portable portfolio viewer and light weight access to my email and the web.
I can say that the screen is very sharp, crisp with good lighting. I have downloaded quite a few free apps to test it out including the Marvel Comics app to see how good the colors are. The colors and sharpness is really amazing.
View photos is a pretty nice experience as well. The transition from image to image is very fast and you can change from portrait to landscape with a simple turn of the unit. You can change images manually or set up as a slide show. For this purpose it is excllent.
A few things that I am also using it for that I hadn't really expected is to read newspapers from around the US. It is nice to be able to pull up local newspapers from areas I travel to or have lived. The USA Today app is very nice with the layout like their paper and its FREE.
I have downloaded the Kindle app and ordered 1 book from Amazon and it works great and has great contrast for easy reading. The iTunes books are nice as well, but they almost all cost more than on Amazon.
I am getting about 6-7 hours of actual usage on the battery, which is a little less than advertised but it could be dependent on the apps I am using, wifi, etc.
Video is smooth with great definition. I have tested Netflix and ABC videos and the definition is excellent with no lag or skipping.
This unit will not replace a powerful laptop, but for a lightweight "netbook", "Kindle" and photo viewer, all in one, it is excellent.
I am not an Apple guy, I use a PC but I have to say Apple has done well on this unit. It will improve and I'm sure have more features in the future (i.e. camera for conference calling, etc.) will come, but as a entry into the marketplace they have set the bar high. They have done what Apple generally does well and that is to introduce new devices into the marketplace with simple user interfaces and other companies will come along and improve them.
The price will have to come down in the future to make these more widely used, but if the money is not a concern I would say this is a buy. I have pre-oreder the 3G version and will hand my current wi-fi unit to my wife.
I hope that helps some. |

->> Dave,
Thanks man. I was waiting on the 3G unit as well. What size did you get if you mind me asking and how is it on disc space? Basically do the apps take up much disc space? I think I found a solution for the WiFi unit too. I had an air card with verizon that I upgraded to a MiFi on Saturday and it's my own personal hot spot. My daughter was able to use her Ipod Touch in the car to search the internet, so I may scratch the 3G and get the WiFi version. I'm just trying to figure out what disc size should I get. Thanks again.... |

| ->> For the wifi version I got the 16gb as I knew that I would either like it and order another unit with 64gb or not like it and I'd save a little money by buying the lowest priced unit. I have about 3 pages of apps and they don't take up much room at all. I'm using about 25% of the space right now. What takes up the most space is if you upload a bunch of music to the unit, but I don't see this as a music player for me. Netflix streams so it doesn't ake up any room. Most of my room will be taken up by photos and what size will depend on how many images you will generally keep there. This is certainly not a storage unit, but a unit to keep images you want to show at that time. |

->> OS 4.0 will greatly expand the usefulness of the iPad. Multi-tasking, and adding folders will make the device more like a real computer.
Photogene for the iPad just got released and it is a good indication on what photo editing on the device will be like.
Once developers catch up with the new OS and the related hardware, the iPad will be a killer tool.
I'm still waiting for Apple to ship the camera connection kit for the iPad. |

| ->> Has anyone tried using the Canon WFT-E2A to shoot and transfer to the iPad? I'm waiting for my 64GB 3G version. This #G option is cheaper than the MIFI |

->> Are there any apps out there currently that allow for captioning and/or sorting through photos?
The only two I've found are Sortshots (http://www.sortshots.com/ipad-tour) and PhotoManager (which is perfect, but only available in Chinese). |

->> I’ve had my iPad for a week now and I love everything about this tablet. It’s the first thing I touch in the morning and the last thing I touch at night (Wife is sleep when I get off work). I originally thought I would only use it for slideshows and presentations, but it has so much more to offer. I have only opened my MacBook Pro to sync it to the iPad and to edit to quick photo shoots since I purchased the iPad, so it's saving on the wear and tear I've been placing on my laptop.
I brought the 64 gig device, so there’s plenty of space to hold anything I need. The Mi-Fi I upgraded to from Verizon is also great. The Apple Apps Store has just about anything you can image to make this unit a GREAT investment. With the app Zinio as was able to purchase several photo magazines including 2 of my favorites Layers’ and American Photo. I wish Rangefinder and Photoshop User were available in digital form as well and Sports Illustrated, but ESPN the Magazine is available.
I no longer have to lug several magazines in my book bag because they are all stored on here. I also purchased a couple books on my Kindle app, which is also a hi-light.
Overall, I’ve really-really enjoyed this iPad and will be purchasing a 32 gig device for my wife for Mother’s Day. |

| ->> I also forgot that this past weekend I was confined to a basketball gym everyday watching or waiting for my daughter's AAU team to play. I was able to sync to the Wi-Fi inside the Reynolds Coliseum on the beautiful campus of North Carolina State and was able to watch several Netflix movies and my battery life was only an issue the 1st day because I forgot to charge it the night before. |

| ->> For those with an iPad, check out the app Filterstorm. It's free (for now) and has the most useful features of any photo-app i've seen so far. Definitely useful for basic image editing. Just got the camera connection kit and that works very well along side this app. Really opens up the possibilities for this device. |
