video books

->> I'm looking for a book (I think) on shooting video but I'm not positive what I'm looking for.

Something more focused on photojournalism/docu/personal shooting. And not something that focuses so much on hadware or software (because those seem dated after 6 months) but more on why I would use a fade transition vs. a hard quick transition, or ways of blending audio.

I looked in B&N, some online. Finding stuff on indie movies, traditional movie making etc, but that's different than the stuff photogs do.

I'm paying more attention to stuff I watch on tv and the web since I started thinking about this. I'm paying more attention to the details of producing something. But I'll notice they did this with audio or a pan, but I have no idea why they did it.  I like the multimediashooter.com and masteringmultimedia.com sites but even they don't have a lot on the nuts and bolts, explaing differences, in plain language preferable. Suggestions?
