Also big thanks to SS Member Matt Dean for being my second shooting at a wedding down in Miami FL last week!

How much time do you have down here? What do you like to shoot? |

->> San Diego is really big but if your willing to travel across the country what's a few extra miles... the most common back drop for weddings in San Diego is of course the beaches but then running a close second would be Balboa Park in downtown San Diego... where you'll find long walkways, gardens and museums...
But if the couple is willing and of course you should scout this before taking them..., there is pool along a promenade with large stones that you can walk out on... I've shot people on them but they weren't wearing a wedding dress... just a suggestion take a look on this map of the locale... send me an email or give me a call if you want more info... best of luck...
fyi- believe it or not we have a little snow in our Laguna mountains but that would be a real journey... so many possibilities.

| ->> Jonathan, you have to check out the gas lamp district - on foot. Also, check out Petco Park, Qualcomm Stadium, the Navy museums on the water. It all depends on what type of things you like to do, but no matter what - you MUST drive over Coronado Bridge! |

| ->> The wild animal park east of San Diego is amazing. They have truck excursions for photographers that usually need far advanced booking, but you never know. I went there before the world class San Diego Zoo and the zoo was a disappointment. |

->> For the best sushi, in my opinion anyway, there is a hole-in-the-wall fastfood place called Niban. Inexpensive and very good. On the southeast corner of highway 805 and Clairmont Mesa Drive.
If you are into nature landscape photography, go to Torrey Pines State Park, early in the morning, walk all the way to the southern tip. Very nice sandstone formations. You can also cut around the Torrey Pines golf course if you can find parking up there.
The Hotel Del Coronado is a must see, and the beaches on Coronado are amazing. I believe sometime ago, Silverstrand was on the top 10 list of all beaches in the world.
Don't forget, boardwalks are not like on the east coast, just plain natural beaches.
Black's Beach, Windandsea, and Trestles are some of the good surfing spots in the SD area. Just google it.
And a couple hours north in the LA area you will find a bucketload of good spots, including The Wedge, which when it breaks is an amazing spot to photograph. The break is close to the beach which means you can make decent images without having to have very long glass.
If you like desertscapes, just drive east along I-8 and you will see some amazing rockformations once you pass the mountain range.
Or if you are into Mexican food, dude, you are in the right place. You could even go for lunch time tacos in Tijuana!
There are an amazing number of really good restaurants, but I am sure other locals will chime in as well.
Enjoy! I miss it! |

| ->> Go up to Point Loma, high on a peninsula at the northern end of San Diego Bay. There's a beautiful lighthouse up there and another below it, closer to sea level. You can see the entire city and bay from up there, including Coronado. It's a great site for viewing the ocean, sunset, ships coming and going, the submarine base, the naval air station, just about the entire area! On the way there you will also drive thru Fort Rosecrans (sp?) National Cemetary with spectacular ocean and bay views on both sides of the endless veteran's tombstones. It's quite moving and beautiful!! |

->> surfing:
1. Swami's in Encinitas
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=swami%27s+encinitas,+California&sll=33.087227,-117.333126&sspn=0.061845,0.110378&gl=us&ie=UTF8&hq=Swami%27s&hnear=Swami%27s,+W+K+St,+Encinitas,+CA+92024&t=h&z=14
2. OB - great location, perhaps more so for OB than the surf itelf, but decent nonetheless
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=ocean+beach,+san+diego,+California&sll=32.780347,-117.193222&sspn=0.248238,0.441513&gl=us&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Ocean+Beach,+San+Diego,+California&ll=32.743537,-117.25193&spn=0.032847,0.055189&t=h&z=14
3. Black's - remote, and therefore maybe not worth the trip, but depending on conditions, can be great. Limited, if any, life guard service too, so be careful. I might recommend just doing the Torrey Pines beach slightly farther north... the parking is much easier too, it's the prototypical socal vista and there's no big cliff face to lug your board down... and back up.

| ->> I have to second the Swami's suggestion. By far my favorite place I have ever surfed. Very relaxing atmosphere and the polar opposite of the wind blown stuff we call waves on the east coast that I am sure you are used to as well. |
