->> Are these duplicates of other files? .tmp, as you might guess, is often used for "temporary" files, which in turn are often used by programs during batch renaming to prevent conflicts between old and new files. The existence of files with the ".tmp" extension suggests that the process was interrupted.

It's further likely you were unable to rename them because such temporary files are often read-only and/or locked by the application using them. If you reboot, you should be able to re-name them.

->> When you rename them you might want to slightly change the prefix so you aren't attempting to rewrite over existing files.

->> I have the same problem every time that I save my raw files to .jpg on my MAC Book Pro. I have to use bootcamp to switch over to windows and delete the .tmp files before I upload via FTP.

I haven't figured a way to take care of this while still on the MAC side. Anyone else that is having this problem if you have the fix please let me know. I use the latest photomechanic and CS4 for all my editing.
