| ->> I have been working on a project and shooting video on the 5d mark2 in 30p, but after the new firmware update i would like to shoot in 24p for the obvious reasons. If i were to switch mid project is there a way to convert the old footage from 30 to 24 so i can edit on the same time line in Final Cut? Or should i just continue shooting in 30p? If converting is possible, how might i go about doing this. Thanks |

->> Here is a pretty good tutorial on how to do the conversion. It also covers how to convert you audio to match the new frame rate.

One thing to consider, the new 30p is actually now 29.97 so you will still have some slight differences if you stick with 30p going forward.
The method described in the attached link converts to 23.976 which is the same frame rate as the new 24P from the latest 5D MkII firmware so you should be set going forward using 24p recording. |

->> The only downside to converting footage from 30p to 24p is that it slows down the clip a good bit.
If you plan to convert interviews or anything with important audio, it will make it sound distorted.
If all you're planning to convert is B-roll, converting shouldn't be too big of a problem. |
