My impression is that it exhibits the sad state of affairs of our contemporary culture. It seems a little strange that all those family members "tried to help." Somehow things got so bad that the state was forced to interdict them...and all of a sudden, when they learned they couldn't just pass them off and let the state pick up the bill for their care the family gets a lawyer to protect the assets...so they can "ensure" it's used for the their "well being." Maybe I'm a cynic. But, reading between the lines....It was too much trouble for any family members to help that poor couple.
