->> The 2010 Salt Lake Ski Photography shootout took place a couple weeks ago, which consisted of 8 professional photographers (from as far away as Norway) and 16 professional skiers/athletes.
The guidelines were as follows:
1) 4 days of shooting and skiing at each of the Cottonwood canyon resorts here in Utah (Snowbird, Alta, Solitude, Brighton)
2) Working with 2 new athletes each day
3) By Friday at 10PM all submissions were due -- 3 images per category (Air, Powder, Big Mountain, City Lifestyle, Mountain Lifestlye) No exceptions!
It was a BLUR, to say the least. Here are some of my images from the week. It was awesome to compete and have to get creative even when conditions weren't ideal. I was stoked to Win the "Best of Show" award as well as 1st place in "Air" (same image).
Hope you enjoy! Go here to view the images: http://www.kevinwinzeler.com/Clients/Salt-Lake-Ski-Shootout-2010/11390847_Z...

I'll be posting more video and bts images in a future (soon) blog post.
Day one: ended up being the sow winner: -- Athlete Jason West nailing a huge line at Solitude on the first morning of shooting.
This image won "Best of Show" and "Air" http://www.kevinwinzeler.com/Clients/Salt-Lake-Ski-Shootout-2010/SkiingAirS...
Day two brought overcast skies and a storm later in the afternoon. We pulled out the lights to ad some flavor with some night work
Day three brought more flat light and snow, so we used trees and motion to create some dynamic images - see the panning shots in the gallery
Day four was shot at Snowbird ski resort. Checkout the leopard dude Zebra lady we found at the top of the Tram.
It was an exhausting week both physically and creatively, but rather epic when all said and done!
