| ->> On Monday I got a call from the paper that a young a lady (Ivy) was frantically looking for a photo I took New Years Eve 2008. It turns out it was the first photo ever of her and her then boyfriend Ben. They are now engaged and he is doing a tour in Afghanistan and he wants that particular shot, nothing else, just that picture. Well I did have it in my archives and printed some copies for them. I met Ivy today and when she walked in she had Ben on the phone, he was on a detail but his Sarge let him make the call. The sound of his voice and the look on her face made my everyday problems seem insignificant in comparsion to what they go through daily. (The same day she called, a racetrack I covered last year abrutly fired me when I told them that they couldn't use my images, even though they already did, without payment. That's another story though.) Ivy and Ben reminded me why I do this. |
